Friedrich Jeckeln (1895-1946)

SS-Obergruppenführer (General). In 1938 Jeckeln was appointed SS- and Police Chief for Mid Germany and was transferred to the same position for West Germany in 1940. On 1 November 1941 Jeckeln was appointed SS- and Police Chief for Nothern Russia. In this capacity he was responsible for the mass murder of thousands of Soviet Jews. After the war Jeckeln was handed over to the Soviet authorities and sentenced to death. He was executed in Riga, in Latvia, in 1946.
